THE ORIGINAL "MCP TECHNICAL PLAN SETS"

Back in 1978, we self-published our unique, "MCP Plan Sets" ...
Vols. 1 & 2 ... at the price of $69.00 per set. We never dreamed the response to this offering would be so overwhelming. Maybe it had a lot to do with "the times a'changing" in those days as it WAS an exciting era of fast developing ANALOG electronics!

Audio applications of the new "chip" entries from silicon valley were just beginning (for serious, professional applications) and the exciting possibilities they offered seemed to bring the " do-it-yourselfers" out of the woodwork!

In the months and years that followed, we sold HUNDREDS of these sets without trying very hard! They were purchased by individuals in virtually every category of the audio and media communities, from major manufacturers ...
(like AT&T for example ) ... to elite agencies (like NASA for example) ...
to "downhome" groups such as the Boy Scouts Of America!

(THEY MAY HAVE PURCHASED INITIALLY OUT OF "CURIOSITY" ...
BUT WE LATER RECEIVED THEIR POSTIVE FEEDBACK ! )

They were also purchased by numerous broadcast and recording studio engineers and many copies wound up in university media libraries ...
(original typos and all!)!

Those early writings, banged out on the old IBM Selectric II ...
(whose correcting feature was broken at the time and quite a few typing errors were left "as is"!), covered some very new, even RADICAL ideas for the time.

Furthermore, these writings revealed some very "meaty" trade secrets from the very depths of the pro audio industry.

Perhaps MORE IMPORTANTLY, they were written in a UNIQUE ...
(later to be acclaimed) "down-home" style by
Hayne Davis of DaviSound.

This innovative, instructive style seemed to ENTERTAIN the readers (judging from the dozens of "glowing" comments)
while teaching and INFORMING in a very unusual
straight to the point manner!

Using "down-home" analogies, these sets were able to take one from a ZERO LEVEL of electronics understanding, all the way through to a complete WORKING KNOWLEDGE of audio theory and actual circuit construction.

In narrative fashion, they started with a piece of wire, then went to resistors, next capacitors and, finally, covered ALL components and schematic presentation, ultimately merging into circuit construction and system construction using the established "building block" principle.

After the success of the general sets, various additional sets, covering assorted specific areas of interest, were offered and they, too, were very well received.

These were:

Set 3- "The Lower Plate and Other Reverb Designs"

Set 4- "The Mixer System"

Set 5- "THE Microphone"

Set 6- " The SuperSoundSystem"

Well, by the late nineties, the times may have changed but the "no-frills" tips, "tricks" and techniques revealed in these sets were still just as priceless, to those interested in truly furthering their understanding of audio electronics, as they were in the early days!

So, in late '99 we began an extensive editing, compilation and rewrite project.
This resulted in a new combined offering, in early 2000 ...

This re-written, re-edited and re-packaged material with new enhancements and extra topics, with the outdated omitted, was combined into one, large, all-inclusive volume called the ...
"DaviSound Tech Reports".

It was updated with the latest information on the latest audio technology and components.

Along with the many specific circuits and construction tips, there was also a wealth of general information covered in narrative style.

We have had veteran recording engineers, some whose names you'd likely recognize, tell us that they learned more about the concepts of impedance relationships, signal transfer and audio level structure in just one reading of these sections of our material than they had managed to gather from ALL OTHER previous sources, combined, throughout their careers -

We temporarily withdrew this prior edition of "TECH REPORTS" ...
in order to, once again, recompile and update the material with a new ...
THIRD EDITION!

We plan extensive updating and the new edition
will now be known as ...

(Now planned for release in 2023!)

Much of the new effort will be toward much better (computer drawn as opposed to the old hand-drawn) graphics and diagrams. Special custom consultation and individual project design and instruction will also be offered to those who desire on an available basis.

When this new material is FINALLY available (now scheduled for 2023), it will, of course, be announced here!
